About the pieces:
 
I’m Here for You - The opening number which is infused with optimism, hope and energy. The piece begins with a driving rhythm and the melody soars and leaps lyrically. A change of key for the last sections ends us on a high.
 
Jodie’s Tune - This has a feeling of nostalgia about it and a strong theme which is built upon as more unfolds. A solid piano accompaniment provides a stable platform for the saxophone to play with full expression.
 
St James Infirmary Blues - A solemn introduction paints the mood for another chance to explore the expressive qualities of the saxophone. Written in 12/8 the slow swing style finally takes us to a shared unison note between the players where the piece ends.
 
Standing Alone, Thinking of You - A beautifully sentimental story of treasured memories and moments. Some beautiful harmonies are explored on the way and again, offer a great opportunity for expression and rubato playing.
 
The New Boss - A lively Tango/Bossa Nova with a driving rhythm. The question is what is the new boss like? We have our suspicions that they are not the nicest character! Try making up lyrics for this tale, the sillier the better!
 
Wood Pigeon Blues - Andy created this from the regular call of the wood pigeon that we know so well (annotated at the start of the piece) and turned it into a lazy Blues. We’re not sure about birds but this will definitely give you an ear worm!
 
Two Line Whip - A lively jaunt which features a walking bass riff and many cheeky interjections on the way. Articulation is super important so don’t skimp there!
